Flight above the clouds gave a nice opportunity to see the sunrise. Fog in New Orleans cleared upon landing and the creole cooking was on. New Orleans just after Mardi gras was a good start.
I love Cajun and spicy foods. Hush puppies, jambalaya, okra, seafood gumbo, all of it. It was hard not to indulge in the many treats but I wasn’t about to defect on day one.
My travel partners, Emily and Matt helped get the 40 days started as we each took a Sport to a grocery store parking lot to make a dish.
I was more nervous than expected. No reserves and depleted batteries weren’t a great way to start but the good sun delighted us.
