Dry regions in the United States are under perpetual risk of wildfires, which in addition to causing fire damage can also lead to massive power outages (one recent blaze in California led to the shut off of power to more than 48,000 homes in Northern California). A wildfire emergency kit needs to be portable enough to grab and go if the fires come close to your home but also not grid dependent if the power goes. You need to plan for two situations: evacuating to a safer location to remaining in your home after a disaster
Here are some items that need to go in your wildfire emergency kit.
Water — enough to last for three to seven days; one gallon per person per day.
Food — Non-perishable food and juice; a non-electric can opener, paper plates, plastic utensils to last for three to seven days
First Aid Kit — bandages, medicine, aspirin, etc.
Radio — Battery powered or solar-powered
